Important Security Update

Use of Online Order Forms

Date of Issue: 20th January 2010

As part of our most recent Online Ordering System (OOS) update we implemented forms which clients could use to enter all of the required information we need to take the first steps in processing an order.

As more people visited our site, the more popular it became in search engine rankings and as a result our new OOS was also listed highly. As the ranking for our site reached a record high, attacks on our site by automated computer systems became more frequent.

After an extensive investigation we found that these automated computer systems were in search of security flaws in our systems that would reveal client email addresses that could then be flooded with spam.

However, the security systems we have in place were more than enough to prevent client email addresses being discovered. We are proud to have protected your privacy and to keep our promise of protecting the information and data you provide to us.

To continue with protecting your privacy we are currently working on implementing award winning security coding to protect our OOS being attacked by automated systems in the future. By using a prevention technique known as CAPTCHA we can ensure that the users of our OOS are human.

The coding works by providing users with a distorted group of words that can be easily read by humans but is near impossible for automated systems to read. The user must then enter the words in a text field before being able to submit the completed form to our servers.

Since the implementation of our current Online Ordering System we have anticipated that all orders would be confirmed within 48 hours of submission. Once the new CAPTCHA system is implemented, the need to filter through computer generated submissions will not exist, thus making it easier for our staff to meet the 48 hour turn around target.

We anticipate that the implementation of the coding behind the new CAPTCHA system will be completed by April 2010. Until this time your data will continue to be protected by our current security systems.
